On Oct. 16, 1981, a 16-year-old Krista Kaleta came for her first day at the Oak Woodlands McDonald’s and met her administrator, 19-year-old Tom Attreau—the man who would educate her how to run the bbq grill.

But this wasn’t their first experience.

“When I first saw him at a McDonald’s soccer game—Oak Woodlands McDonald’s vs. Tinley Recreation area McDonald’s— I believed he was a dork! He was dressed in ripped-up white-colored sweatpants and a fluorescent lemon knit hat!” Krista said, of her first look at him before she was employed.

“The day I began and he qualified me, I was absolutely affected with him.”
